Atlas Obscura is a compendium of the world’s wonders and curiosities. It catalogues singular, bizarre, and fantastical places not commonly found in traditional travel guidebooks. They were dissatisfied with their bulky and slow-loading website. I rewrote the markup and stylesheets, transforming them into optimized, lightweight, standards-compliant front-end code. I used the existing visual design for the most part, while also creating new design elements where necessary.
Intel Retail Advantage
Intel Retail Advantage is Intel’s online training portal for retail sales professionals (RSPs) in the Asia-Pacific region. The website contains sales training modules such as games, articles, briefings, and interactive quizzes; sales tools such as videos, demos, and presentations; and community sections such as news and photo sharing. They initially hired me for front-end web development—I designed the user interface and wrote clean optimized code. Later, they asked me to expand my role to content strategy, copywriting, and social media. My work ranged from strategy to implementation.
Red Mango is known for refreshingly tangy frozen yogurt, a variety of fresh toppings, and a fun casual dining experience. They wanted a website that would market their business, list their branches, show their menu, reveal their latest promotions, and connect with customers on social media. I created a brochure website based on the design concept they provided. I developed the front end and collaborated with a partner on the back end. The resulting website is cleanly coded, fast-loading, and search engine friendly.
Family on the Move

Mike was moving to Spain with his wife and kids. He would live off his side businesses, travel around Europe, and have fun with his family—all while documenting the journey on his blog. He hired me for custom web design and development. I created a warm visual design that placed emphasis on travel, adventure, and storytelling. I developed it into a WordPress theme built on the Thesis framework.

HostBaby is a web application service from the makers of CD Baby, the most popular independent music store online. The platform allows musicians to create entire websites from scratch. They hired me to design a website template for their custom CMS. Pro Audio reflects the atmosphere of an ideal recording studio—a quiet place with no clutter and lots of breathing room. The design features simple elegance and attractive typography.

KateGoriako is a management consulting company whose aim is to empower employees and organizations in the health sector. I designed a logo that captured the desired brand image, conveying strength, intelligence, and simplicity. I also provided a modern and professional website that would effectively market services and invite visitors to get in touch.
DHL is one of the top international delivery service providers in China. I worked on several projects for them, notably the Sales Department Intranet and the Training and Development Portals for the Sales Department, Telesales Team, and Operations Department. I primarily developed the front end, but also contributed user interface design on some projects. All of these are internal websites used by DHL’s employees all around China.
Save the Orcas
HTML, CSS, Interspire Website Publisher
Save the Orcas is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Puget Sound’s orca whale population and other marine mammals around the globe. They wanted to move to Interspire Website Publisher while continuing to use the design of their existing static website. I first overhauled their website markup and stylesheets, making the code semantic, lightweight, and search engine optimized. I then developed an Interspire Website Publisher theme from the new template. The end result was a well-coded orca-themed CMS website.
Maddon.net is my website. I built it to present my work to prospective clients and encourage them to contact me. Since I wanted the website to show my personality, I created a design filled with elements I love: cursive type, wallpaper patterns, scraps of art, and scans from my favorite books. The result is a luxurious look and feel that draws attention to the content. I used responsive web design here, so the website adapts to the screen sizes of various mobile devices such as netbooks, tablets, and smartphones.
Zkipster is an online guest list management platform for club promoters, hosts, and staff. They needed a website to present their service to potential customers, as well as to provide control panel access to existing users. I designed a website with distinctive headings, simple typography, and a clean modern look to complement the service: less hassle, more room for fun. The website has a day mode for regular browsing and a night mode for use in a dark club environment. Users can choose from eight color themes for each mode.
WordPress, Platform Pro
Salestrakr is a full-featured web-based customer relationship management application. It allows users to track sales opportunities, automate communication, and build a marketing workflow. They wanted to convert their static website to WordPress. They also wanted an easy way for embed videos and use their ZenDesk support system. I set up WordPress, installed the theme, integrated the old static content, and made design customizations and improvements.
Vitrochem Technology provides adhesives and sealants for a wide range of industries. I was hired to revise the markup and stylesheets of their website, making the code semantic, lightweight, and search engine friendly. I also created new pages and made design revisions.
Living, Learning, and Teaching in Taipei
LLTT was created to help people master Mandarin, learn martial arts, teach English, and have a good time living in Taiwan’s capital. The client hired me for design customizations and WordPress modifications, as well as improvements to the website’s iPhone/iPod Touch versions.
The client also hired me for the same kind of work on his other website, Foreign Language Mastery (l2mastery.com)—a community of linguists, experts, and enthusiasts dedicated to helping people master foreign tongues.
Nikko is a web application developer specializing in social media solutions. He asked me to design a website where he could showcase his projects and talk about his work. I designed his website using modern typography and bold colors to match his personality and philosophy. I also wrote website copy for his most important pages.
